okay, so in the comments on my "whipped coconut oil butter" my mom wanted to know if THAT was the recipe for THIS.
no. but now i'll share this one, because she reminded me. and i so want to share it. because it rocks.
my dad had told me that the ONLY thing that would help his hard-working, contractor/outdoorsman/work-in-the-yard hands was this special coconut oil stick he had been using. i turned it around and it was made with coconut oil and beeswax AND I HAD JUST MADE THIS SALVE WITH THE SAME TWO INGREDIENTS! i was ecstatic and made him loads.
my cute cousin-ish (the ish represents the second cousin twice removed or something like that) called late one sunday night wondering if there was anything i knew that would help her husband's hard-working wood-working hands that were painful and split. i said, "my dad swears by this salve i make him. maybe you could run over there and pick some up. because i doubt you have the ingredients hanging around. you know, beeswax." well, at the time she lived in the house that my great-aunt dora had lived in. and she checked in her cold storage AND PEOPLE, THERE WAS A BIG OLE' BLOCK OF BEESWAX! so, heather made some salve and was thrilled with it.
this is a great all around all-purpose salve.
and our family is LOVING the body butter as well. i use it for a face cream at night. bronwyn smooths is over her skin and last night bronwyn lathered it all over skyler before he got in his bath. he HATES baths. he always complains that they are "too scratchy!" it is a battle and i've tried lots of things for his sensitive skin. but that coconut oil smoothed on before he got in the water mus have sealed him up and he was in heaven. HOORAY!!!
never used coconut oil? PLEASE START! THIS IS WHY and this is why (basically it's an amazing healthy fat, and has all sorts of "anti" properties--anti-fungal, anti-viral, etc.). eat it. make raw deserets with it. bake with it (and links on where to buy it). throw it in your smoothies. use it instead of cooking oil. slather it on your dry skin). the options are endless (post from ablogaboutlove).
